DANIELLA CLARKE: "IT'S NOT THAT I'M REBELLING, IT'S THAT I'M TRYING TO FIND ANOTHER WAY" - EDIE SEDGWICK

"I kept thinking about girls like Edie Sedgwick and Patti Hansen who could fall asleep wearing diamonds and a full face of makeup and still wake up looking chic." - Daniella Clarke's inspiration

Some women are just born with style, with an eye and with something you can not learn at FIDM. These women can take a piece of drab fabric and turn it into a flattering, beautiful piece of wearable clothing, just as a magician can turn a party balloon into a poodle. One of these rare designers is a gorgeous woman named DANIELLA CLARKE. Born in Israel and lived there until she was ten, Daniella then bounced between South Africa and the US for years. In love with the feeling of the 60's and 70's, Daniella started to cut and restructure her own jeans to fit her own perfect body as a teen. She started by cutting the waist bands off her jeans which later made her the innovator of low rise sexy jeans which continues to be a denim craze today. She launched Frankie B. Jeans in 1999 and has expanded the denim line to tops, bottoms, dresses, eye wear, swimwear and active wear and today it is available worldwide. Daniella has a rock-hippie chic running through her veins and she taps into it everyday in life and in her designs. She knows what is cool before you do. She knows what will fit and feel well before you do. She knows what will change the norm before the industry does. She is a visionary of feminine, chic, confident, yet laid-back style. Isn't that what we all want in our everyday wardrobe? A way to be sexy, yet comfy...edgy but classic. She holds the magic thread.
Married to rock guitarist Gilby Clarke and mother to her brand's namesake Frankie, Daniella has been awarded the MAFI Fashion Innovator Award as well as the Media Award from Y-Me National Breast Cancer Organization for her support and dedication to charity.

Here, the beautiful DANIELLA CLARKE answers our beauty questions and gives us a peek into her forward-thinking, fabulous fashion mind:

I really want this Lanvin straw Fedora so I can wear it to Coachella in April.

ANITA KO: I KNOW YOU...I WALKED WITH YOU ONCE UPON A DREAM...

The beautiful ANITA KO was once a sparkling, fashion-loving Art History major at NYU. She began designing handbags in 1997 and then launched her gorgeous jewelry in 2006. She grew up in Los Angeles and has become a leading and renowned jewelry designer to the biggest names out there. She was quickly picked up by exclusive retailers like Maxfield, Roseark and Jeffreys. Her pieces are contemporary custom designs and they all make you feel that you wandered into the forest Sleeping Beauty is running through to find her Prince Charming. There is a lot of magic in Anita Ko's pieces. Her creations convey rebellious characters/animals that represent independence, love and luck.

Here, I share a beauty Q&A with this gorgeous force of beauty:

WHAT IS THE LIPSTICK NAME AND BRAND IN YOUR PURSE RIGHT NOW?

I mainly use lip gloss, and I am addicted to this one from Lancome and it is called "Hotness"...love!

WHAT IS IT THAT INSPIRES YOUR BEAUTIFUL PIECES?

I am inspired by everything...people, art, music, era's, my friends, diamonds, rubies, and books...lots of books.

WHERE IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE YOU HAVE EVER BEEN?

The most beautiful place I have ever been has to be a home I once stayed in Acapulco. It was on a cliff and had the most incredible view. Our hosts were the most fun and alive people, and it was a beautiful time and place.

WHAT IS AN EVERY DAY OR EVERY NIGHT RITUAL OF YOURS?

I am obsessed with my Amore Pacific Ritual. I use their enzyme cleanser and their skin renewal program every night.

WHAT FLOWER DO YOU FIND TO BE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL?

I love a big bouquet of peonies....they are so beautiful.

A run through the fairy tale forest and you find Anita Ko. Her pieces make you feel like those fairy tales are real and that you will be next in line for the Prince to place the glass slipper on your foot. Her design imagination is extensive and beautiful...

"Looking at beautiful things is what makes me the happiest" - Ali MacGraw

That's how we feel about looking at designs by the dazzling Anita Ko.

WHAT YOU ARE IN LOVE WITH, WHAT SEIZES YOUR IMAGINATION, WILL EFFECT EVERYTHING

Here is a GS&E wrap-up of the beautiful things in life from the last couple weeks. If you do what I do and wake up every morning excited to discover beauty in every little moment of your day, you will find it is as overwhelming as I do. Such as, just a quick trip to the market and you may spot the most beautiful bouquet of flowers for sale (which I always need to buy) and it changes my whole day. At the most monotonous moments, like my dreaded trips to the gas station, this week I discovered mint chocolate chip bubblegum at the register and it became a highlight of my week! Watch closely each day....beauty is everywhere....

Such loveliness and elegance in a garden statue...whether it is around a pool, placed on a lush green lawn or within a forest of roses, it is a symbol of appreciation of nature, stillness and beauty to me.

Raining crystals, twinkling light....I am drawn to chandeliers, these sparkling bouquets, with such passion!

Does it really get more gorgeous, graceful or refined than a ballerina? Maybe if it is a ballerina jewelry holder....

I know it is a little Peter Pan-y....but you have to admit, this chandelier is interesting...I had to take a moment to take it all in....

If you are a true GS&E girl, of course your ice cubes are heart shaped.....

A Marie Antoinette lollipop....so pretty I don't want to eat her head off!

Still completely obsessed with a favorite GS&E beauty subject Tinsley Mortimer's limited edition Dior blotting papers...I can honestly say this is the cutest product ever created! Always in my purse, always complimented on...does it get any chicer??

My parent's gorgeous cabana...Chinese lanterns swinging and glowing in the sparkle of a swim and the quiet cozy of the night....

A cherished Henri Bendel piece I had to own...those stripes make me crazy....

I always insult carnations as a cheap prom flower and then found mini carnations in a floral crunch and they happen to be quite beautiful in a tight bunch...

As I've mentioned before....Elizabeth Hurley's organic oat bars are highly addictive! It is a production to order from her farm in England but completely worth it...I order tons at a time to always be stocked up. The banana/chocolate are the BEST!!

Anything Assouline or Taschen have to be in my home....coffee table book obsession....

Live, die and breathe the existence of Disneyland Paris....see the Alice ride all the way to the right in the picture..."Je vous connais... J'ai marché avec vous une fois sur un rêve"......

Maria: I can't seem to stop singing wherever I am. And what's worse, I can't seem to stop saying things - anything and everything I think and feel.

Mother Abbess: Some people would call that honesty.

Love edgy and creative artwork....

Love green grass and water....a space to think and be.....

A Caroline Roehm quote from the pages of her gorgeous book of interior design "A Passion for Interiors"....

My beautiful friend Victoria Fuller's piece of art which hangs in our bedroom of Jackie Kennedy...everyday it captivates me...

If this is not a perfect gardenia I don't know what is.....

Fabulous plates from Anthropologie....

Is there anything more positively elegant than Glinda? There's no place like home...

My beloved Eiffel Tower bangle from Larchmont's Village Heights...Je l'aime tellement.....

A special love post for my beautiful friend BAR REFAELI's optimistic and lovely thoughts that brighten my everyday....Here is a favorite: "Laugh a lot so that your wrinkles will be in all the right places." She is the epitome of GS&E in a cupcake eating, life-loving supermodel body.
